Throughout this week, the series "African-American Women: Where They Stand," is airing on "NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams." The first piece, by Rehema Ellis, drew sharp contrasts between the progress made by black women and that by black men, and was notable for its suggestion that "society" celebrates bad-boy images of black men that might give black boys the idea that "dropping out is better than staying in."
