It's finally summer time and you are probably ready to have some fun in the sun! If you are anything like me, you are likely trying to soak up every bit of summer because before you know it, winter will be here again. I love biking, taking long walks, swimming, or spending all day at amusement parks during the summer months. All of these activities are great for my mind, body and soul, but wreck havoc on delicate tresses if they are not properly

Silk Amino Protein Conditioner Our hair and nails are predominately made of protein, which gives them strength. Overtime we lose the needed protein to keep our hair and nails strong because our body doesn't store protein. The hair may experience breakage and excessive damage with the use of heating appliances, chemicals, and other harsh practices. In order to keep the hair strong, we must replenish the lost protein. This can be done internally, through eating a protein rich diet and externally by applying products that contain protein to the hair.

A protein rich diet isn't just great for your hair, but also for

I remember my very first hair care workshop in April of 2008. This was also Sweet Nature's official local introduction. People that hadn't seen me in a while didn't know I had gone natural and I literally could NOT keep their hands out of my hair! I even had people argue with me about it being my real hair...lol. I think the most memorable comment made was by my older cousin. At the end of the workshop, I held a Q&A. She raised her hand, and in a very serious voice, she said, "I've known you my entire life and when you were little, you had the nappiest hair I had ever seen...How in the world

Gaining weight or developing health issues usually happen overtime. Whether it’s due to an unhealthy diet, pregnancy, illness, medication or lack of exercise, gaining weight doesn’t generally happen overnight and neither does heart disease or diabetes.  When we decide to lose weight, unfortunately it doesn’t just fall off and when we want to take control of our health issues, they don’t just disappear. Even if we change our diets and exercise, (depending on how much we gained), it usually takes significant time and effort to get back to a healthy weight or state of well-being. Keeping this

Wow...2013 already!  This is the time of year when people resolve to lose weight, quit smoking, stop procrastinating, change careers, save money, etc. The average person sticks to these resolutions for about a month, and then they slowly fall back into their old routine. I've found some secrets to not only sticking to your resolution, but making it easier and more fulfilling while doing it.

The first thing is, don't resolve to fix all of your life's issues all at once; chose the things that will make the most positive impact on your life, yet are realistically obtainable. Also, make sure you

I live in Michigan where it gets really cold. As the weather changes so does our  wardrobes, driving conditions and you hair regimen should change as well. If you were lax in your hair care during the warmer months, you may have survived with minor damage, but if you do not take some serious precautions during the colder months, come Spring, you will definitely regret it.

Winter months in cold regions can wreak havoc on your hair, it's very important to choose low maintenance styles so that you do not have to comb or brush often. It's also a great idea to incorporate practices that causes

When I was about 20 years old, I suffered from devastating hair loss from bonding glue. Within 2 days of using it, my scalp started to itch and my hair started to fall out until I had a bald spot the size of a tennis ball in the top of my head; I also suffered severe breakage and thinning throughout my entire head.  After that experience I became obsessed with finding something, anything that would grow my hair back.

After a few months of watching and waiting it was obvious to me that I would have to take action. So the research

Grow Your Hair with Braid Extensions

When I decided to go natural, I quickly realized that braid extensions would be the easiest and most convenient way for me to grow my hair out as quickly as possible. Braid extensions are a great way of growing the hair because the ends are protected, there's very little maintenance or manipulation to the hair, they provide excellent access to the scalp, and they generally last for several weeks.  But, if braids are not applied and taken care of properly, they will definitely do more damage than good.

Many people don't realize that braid extensions are coated with a chemical
