Black Museums Need Our Help!

Posted by gcuse03champs in Untagged

Black museums such as the United States Slavery Museum are struggling financially. They need our help. Oprah Winfrey and Bill Cosby can only do so much.

They are suffering because African Americans are not donating money to keep them going. Until today that included me. I did what I can and I am asking you to do the same.

One person doesn't need to donate a lot.

If we can give $1, $2, $5, or $10 to Barack  Obama to make history I am sure that we can donate those same small amounts to preserve our history.

That may not sound like much but if just 1 million of us donate a dollar that's 1 million.

LABOR FOR CHANGE - HATS ON FOR OBAMA!

Posted by Delores in Untagged

Delores

The first national observance of Labor Day was proclaimed on September 3, 1894 by President Grover Cleveland and honored only federal workers in Washington DC and the states. Today Labor Day recognizes all those who labor and it is celebrated the first Monday in September. It is a day off from work for many. I will use the day to create handmade (crochet) Obama hats to raise funds for Obama for America.

( see: http://www.africreations.com/Crochet-Obama-Hats.html )

Please make a purchase and/or donation to help me reach my fundraising goals for Obama for America. I am a member of the Grassroots

Blogger Campaign gets Sarah Palin the V.P. Nod

Posted by bamgibbs in Untagged

It appears that a young blogger by the name of Adam Brickley is taking credit for the fact that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin was selected as the VP choice for John McCain. He apparently started a blogging campaign: Draft Sarah Palin for Vice President blog last year and has relentlessly promoted the idea ever since.

The 21-year-old University of Colorado senior has reportedly never been to Alaska or met Palin. But while researching potential vice presidents, he stumbled on Palin and thought she would be a good No. 2.

OK, here is my question. Has the world wide web gotten so powerful that we can

She exemplifies what social networking is all about; sharing, supporting, and encouraging those of us in the Black online Diaspora. The sister has her act together and is quickly becoming a recognized name on the

John McCain's Panicky Response to Obama

Posted by Thuso in VPSarah PalinJohn McCainHillary ClintonBarack Obama

Thuso

It is hard to believe that John McCain and his Republican supporters can keep a sraight face in presenting Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as a viable choice as his running mate.  The basic argument is that she will solidify the Republican conservative base because she is a pro-life, pro-gun, anti-corruption reformer.  As a woman, she will make an appeal to the disaffected supporters of Hillary Clinton.  However, he has shot himself in the foot in arguing that Obama is inexperienced and not ready for the presidency -- especially when he said that his primary criteria was to select someone who

Say It Loud....

Unless you live in a bubble, you  know that Senator Barack Obama has become the first African-American to lead a major political party in the race for the White House.

Last night's speech was powerful and moving.  There wasn't a dry eye in my house.

There were a lot of highlights to Obama's nomination speech but the statement that continues to stay with me was his last sentence:  "Let us continue to hold firmly to the hope that we confess without wavering..."  Bible readers will know it comes from Hebrews 10:23.  Here's the rest of that text "... for the one who made the promise is

The Democratic National Convention: Referendum on "The Dream" -- Day 4

Posted by Thuso in mccainBarack ObamaAmerica

Barack Obama came out swinging last night, and made his case for the Presidency. He demonstrated a visionary leadership perspective on the challenges that face us as Americans in a global community that hit hard at the alternatives offered by John McCain. He used strong fighting words that set the stage for the final days of this contest. Words that supporters can rally around to garner stronger support for the change that we need in this country.

Obama offered a promise to the grassroots supporters of his candidacy -- a PROMISE to build a BETTER AMERICA for each of us and our children. He
