Centuries ago, the Great Commonwealth of England excommunicated those citizens considered unfit members of society and common criminals to an undeveloped, God-forsaken place. This place has since become the greatest and most powerful country in the world—the United States of America.
In 1966, Dr. Ron Karenga, also known as Maulana Karenga, introduced to black and white America alike a debatable and revealing holiday—Kwanzaa. Kwanzaa is a seven-day festival to be celebrated by blacks and brings a cultural message which speaks to the best of what it means to be African and human

The NACCP and non-affiliates have been performing mock funerals of the n-word around the country, burying the term, its negative connotations, and condescending use. The most recent funeral occurred July 9, 2007, during the NAACP Detroit Convention weekend.
The purpose and importance of these mock funerals is being questioned by individuals from various backgrounds and circuits. Skeptics believe that these mock funerals are outright ridiculous. Advocates of killing off the n-word rebut with a meditating question: Denigrating African-American women, glamorizing violence, defining an

It is general knowledge that when Napoleon and his soldiers invaded Egypt and saw the Negroid feature of a nose on the Sphinx he ordered his men to shoot the nose off with its cannon artillery. Likewise with other Egyptian artifacts it has been a general practice, by those who are so disturbed, to destroy and deface any semblance of Negroid features. However, in coming across the following I found it to be most incredible and decided to post it here.
The following article is an excerpt from Race and History.com by Professor Mani Ampim:

Some local black ministers, community leaders in the Fort Worth, Texas area took exception to comments made by D. L. Hughley on a recent Jay Leno late night show, referring to the Rutgers women basketball team as the ugliest nappy headed women he has ever seen. These community leaders launched a protest and rightfully so. However, Hughley response to this protest is as follows:
"I believe that freedom of speech is a zero-sum proposition. Too many times I have watched clowns like these pretend to speak for the masses. I can only speak

On Thursday, May 17, 2007 the following Internet article appeared on Sohh.Com:
Daily Hip-Hop News: 50 Cent Says He Won't Clean Up Lyrics, Disses Master P
Rapper 50 Cent recently revealed that he has no intentions of cleaning up his lyrics despite all the backlash that hip-hop has received since Don Imus' 'nappy headed hoes' controversy.
50 Cent would take a stab at Master P when a reporter used the No Limit Records founder as an example of a rapper who has chosen to stop using racist and sexist language in his music. "Well Master P doesn't sell CDs anymore," he scoffed. "You can

In his 1963 Civil Rights manifesto “The Fire Next Time,” James Baldwin insists that he is a man, not a n**ger. The book opens with a letter written to his nephew, also named James, on the 100th anniversary of Emancipation. Baldwin offers the youngster encouragement and advice on how to survive in the stubbornly racist American society.
Baldwin writes to his nephew:
“It will be hard, James, but you come from sturdy peasant stock, men who picked cotton and dammed rivers and built railroads, and, in the teeth of the most terrifying odds, achieved an unassailable and monumental dignity.

Community leaders all across America are now stepping up to the plate and challenging the insanity that’s been going on within the black community relative to the self-deprecation use of the n-word, and other profane words. Mogul Executive, Russell Simmons is to be commended with his initiative to confront the issues relative to the music industries complicity, by calling for corporate responsibility, even though he did stop short of holding rappers accountable for anything.
However, the real work now begins because there are multi-millions of blacks who see nothing wrong in embracing the

At the NAACP's Northeastern Regional Conference the youth/college division of the NAACP held a mock funeral for the word n**ger. It's nothing but a ceremonial display but it makes an excellent point. Read the story by clicking the link below:
