Roy Wilkins:
On August 15, 1931, Civil Rights Activist, Roy Wilkins, Became Assistant Secretary Of The NAACP.
Roy Wilkins Was Born In St. Louis, Missouri On August 30, 1901. He Received A Sociology Degree From The University Of Minnesota In 1923.
A Portion Of Wilkins' Professional Career Was Spent In Journalism. He Worked For The "Minnesota Daily," And Was Editor Of Two Other Publications, The "Saint Paul Appeal (A Black Newspaper)" And The "Kansas City Call." When W. E. B. Du Bois Left The NAACP In 1934, Wilkins Replaced Him As Editor Of The "Crisis," The NAACP's Official

In a sad reminder of how far we still have to go with race relations in the United States two African American service men were beaten at a gas station in Lakeside California simply because they were black. It just goes to show how depraved racist really are that they would beat two men who could conceivably die defending their right to be ignorant. Watch video of this story by clicking the link below:

Award-Winning Actress And Producer, Halle Berry, Was Born August 14, 1968, In Cleveland, Ohio.
Before Becoming An Actress Berry Entered Several Beauty Contests And Had A String Of Successes. She Won Miss Teen Ohio All-American, Miss Ohio (1985) And Was First-Runner Up In The Miss USA Pageant (1986). She Was Also The First Black Woman To Represent America As Miss World.
