Search Engines Gateway to the Internet

Posted by BKamau in Internet marketingBlackAfrican American

In a Blog I made last week I talked about 7 effective
ways to increase your website traffic. I wanted
to talk about the first type today: search engine
traffic.

Search engines could be understood as the gateway
to the Internet. In technologically developed
countries the Internet has reached market
penetration of about 50%.

So right away if you have a business that is on
the Internet but not getting search engine traffic
you are losing at losing at least 50% of potential
business.

No business can survive losing 50% of its prospects.
This is why investing in getting search engine
traffic is so crucial. You can invest in getting
search engine traffic in 3 ways:

(1) Hire a search engine optimizer (SEO) expert

(2) Hire a Pay Per Click (PPC) consultant or ad agency

(3) Learn Search Engine Promotion Yourself

Contact me if you would like SEO or PPC help by replying

Pamper Your Hair With A Pre-Wash Hair Oil Treatment

Northwest Scents Peppermint Hair Oil If you hair is suffering from excessive dryness, consider a pre-wash hair oil treatment. Hair oil aids in strengthening the hair by moisturizing and conditioning the cuticle. This prevents dryness and helps the hair to stay flexible. It also causes the hair to appear sleek and shiny, and helps it to be more manageable. To do a pre-wash hair oil treatment use either a natural hair pomade (made with natural oils) or natural hair oil, and apply a generous amount to your hair before you wash it. For the maximum benefit, leave the oils in your hair for about an hour. To help the oils penetrate your hair you can sit under a hooded dryer on a low setting or put on a shower cap and let the heat from your head help the oils to penetrate your hair. When you are done wash your hair as usual.

Northwest Scents™ is a line of natural products for Black and African hair. We carry hair oils, pomades and more. For more information about these products, please visit us at http://www.nwscents.com or here at iZania market at http://www.izaniamarket.com/shops/nwscents

A New Black Nationalist Agenda

Posted by Thuso in Pan AfricanNationalistBlack

Thuso
I am thinking of a New Black Nationalist Agenda in a very different way. I am not thinking of this new movement as a separatist movement, or a confrontational win-lose type of outcome. You see, the agenda is present before our very eyes. It is multi-faceted, and most powerful in its effectiveness to mobilize Black people to act in our self-interests. I have observed that our interests are not very different than others. It is our outcomes that suffer from a great disparity. These outcomes can be improved if we collaborate around our strengths. By the way, we all stand to benefit. When we do well as Black people, we contribute to the advancement of all America. Not in some pie-in-the-sky kind of way, but in practical terms on the ground.

The Pew Research Report and many like it are reflections of a powerful reality. Whether the results are articulated on the street corner, in the living rooms of our homes, on a public stage by Bill Cosby, via syndicated radio by Tom Joyner, or on national TV by Tavis Smiley; whether a discussion by the talking heads that appear on CNN, and NPR, on syndicated
Black talk radio, and the traditional mouthpieces of the Black community like Al and Jesse, The NAACP , Urban League, 100 Black Men, the Panthers, UNIA-ACL, NBLC, or The Nation of Islam, or Corporate offices with glass ceilings -- these voices are shouting in unison all the elements of the New Black Agenda.

I believe it is possible to find resonance in these voices to craft and

The Education Imperative for the Black Community

Rosa Smith, former superintendent of the Columbus, Ohio, schools, had an epiphany one morning when she read some statistics about U.S. prison population. Some 75% of the prison population, she found, is Latino or African-American, and 80% are functionally illiterate. She felt a new sense of purpose: Her work was no longer about teaching math or science, but about saving lives!

This is the attitude we must adopt if we are to save our children in urban schools, and schools in predominantly Black communities all over this country. There is a call to arms that we must all embrace. Failure is not an option!

When we look around us, we see widespread evidence of an education crisis in urban communities. In a study released in 2006 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the study estimates that . . . just 52% of blacks graduate, and 57% of Hispanics. Fourteen urban school districts have on-time graduation rates lower than 50%; they include Detroit, Baltimore, New York, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas, Denver and Houston.

If we are to save our children, we must embrace an education imperative that refuses to allow our children to face a new world that they are unprepared for. There are many programs that are being initiated to stem this tide. In Columbus, Ohio, Gene Harris, the current superintendent, is committed to raising the graduation rate from 72% today to 90% for the class of 2012. Her plan, Project Mentor, calls for 10,000 volunteers to mentor
