Obama vs. McCain -- 27 days to go. 2nd Debate: Presidential Visionary vs. Angry Old Man

CNN's poll of people who watched the second presidential debate showed 54 percent saying Democrat Barack Obama won and 30 percent thinking Republican John McCain was the victor.

The most telling observation about Barack Obama's debate performance was an observation that he looked "more Presidential -- in command of his plan, his vision, his prioirites." 

In response, John McCain was ineffective in recycling his stump speech talking points.  He was unconvincing, erratic in his arguments, and was not very crisp in offering specific solutions.  He seemed angry at the world for the mess we are

Vote2008I went to cast my early vote today.

I have been voting all my adult life -- waiting in long lines, braving bad weather, and dealing with the stress of fitting this into my work schedule.  Here in Ohio, the early voting polling stations are open Monday through Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  This flexibility provides many voters with the opportunity to truly vote at your convenience.

There is no excuse to miss the opportunity to vote.  In Ohio, it is even possible to register and vote on the same day -- up to October 6th.  So, I am joining many volunteers who are transporting unregistered voters,

Yesterday opened Ohio's unusual week-long window in which voters can register and cast absentee ballots at the same time. Hundreds arrived in steady streams, part of a first wave of people already voting across the country, five weeks before Election Day.

Nationally, early voting, by mail or in person, is becoming more common and is likely to account for one-third of all votes cast in the November elections, up from 14 percent in 2000, predicts Paul Gronke, a researcher with the Early Voting Information Center in Portland, Ore.
