It's almost time for school for many kids/ If your daughter is anything like mine, she stayed in the pool and was shuttled from one camp or activity to another all summer long and if you are anything like me, you couldn't keep up with washing it and re-doing it each time. Some days I just washed her hair with the twist or braids still in, some days I co-washed it, and other days, I am ashamed to say, I just rinsed it with cool water, sprayed it with Growth spray, and pulled it back into a ponytail with Wisdom heavy moisturizer.

It's Finally summer and you are probably ready to have some fun in the sun! If you are anything like me, you are likely trying to soak up every bit of summer because before you know it, winter will be here again. I love biking, taking long walks, swimming, or spending all day at amusement parks during the summer months. All of these activities are great for my mind, body and soul, but wreck havoc on delicate tresses if they are not properly cared

With the summer holiday season upon us, I thought it might be worthwhile writing a piece on water. Whether you are headed to the beach or pool this summer you may want to know what the water there will do to your hair. Here are the 5 main types of water you may encounter during your holiday or at your home:

1. Seawater

Seawater in itself, is not particularly bad for hair, despite the high level of salt. Splashing at the beach or even swimming in the ocean will generally not greatly affect hair. The main issue many naturals may

Did you know that many women thought to suffer from heredity hair loss can actually  be suffering from inheriting bad habits and damaging practices? Habits, good and bad, are passed on from generation to generation the same way traditions are. Many years ago hair pomades and hair grease was introduced to our grandparents as the best thing since sliced bread; we also fell in love with the bone straight look relaxers offered. In gravitating towards these "solutions" to our hair "problems", we forgot to do the research on the ingredients found in them.

OMG, it’s time to get that sexy back, to fit into that cute little swimsuit, or just start that journey to becoming healthier and fit, but for some of us, our hair is hindering our progress. Many women spend a lot of time and/or money on their hair, so they may forgo this essential part of life. Below are some tips, styles and products that will help you stay cute while getting fit.

Natural hair can be a little tricky, especially if you don’t have wash-n-go curly hair, like me.

My number one, go-to style is braid extensions because they are low maintenance and double as a protective

Many women desire to have longer hair, especially African American women, but are convinced it's just not in the cards for them. Reality is that with a little information and some extra TLC, an additional inch or even an additional 10 inches of hair growth, is very possible.
