What's Holding You Back?

Posted by tnewby in Untagged

You think of it all the time.  You crave it and have a passion for it and yet, you're not taking action.  What am I talking about?  Your Vision of course!

"There millions of potential millionaires in the graveyard.  They died without having become who they really wanted to be and no one was holding them back except for their minds.  So, they died with all their potential wasted." (paraphrased from Myles Munroe, author, and International motivational speaker)

The statement above makes me sad every time I think about it or hear it, because we have all been guilty at one time or another of

African Americans Being Late Can Be A Problem for Obama!

Posted by tnewby in Untagged

Could the habit of being late for African Americans in general affect Obama's race for President?

I have heard this more and more as we move closer to November 4th.  In addition, most  states are reporting record numbers in early voting and people are still having to wait hours to cast their vote.  So, I too believe that it could be possible to impact Obama's chances if we allow habits of being late to interfere.

Most  states are estimating a 6 hour or more wait in many areas, so there's no time to wait 30 minutes to an hour before the polls close before we vote.  We must all become proactive

The Secret to Wealth & Success Is In the Power of Follow Up!

If you had followed up on many of the ideas and tasks that you thought about within the year, but didn't - do you feel you would be in a better position today?

When I ask this question to most business owners they say a resounding YES, I would definitely be in a better place.   However, when I ask them why they chose not to follow up they really can't answer that question.

The truth is that the art of follow up really has more to do with your focus skills than anything else.

Have You Started Planning For 2009?

Posted by tnewby in Untagged

Hello fellow Izanians,

I just read a great book, "Success Is Not An Accident" by Tommy Newberry.  As 2009 approaches, I always start reflecting on what changes I need to make to accomplish my business goals around this time of year.

As I asked myself the question, "why didn't I meet a particular goal yet in 2008", I found myself making excuses and setting limits on my ability to make it happen.  In his book, Tommy writes, "It's difficult to become goal directed in a world that is centered on limitations".

After reading that statement, I realized that part of why I haven't accomplished my

Black In America, The Real Review

Posted by tnewby in Untagged

If you've been watching CNN's Black In America, please join Black Business America on Sunday, July 27th  at 6:00 PM for an open discussion on BlogTalk Radio.

I could not believe the statistic that the pregnacy rate of single black women went from 30% to 80% since the 70's.  Did I hear that right?

$1 Million Needed to Retire!

Posted by tnewby in Untagged

$1 million dollars use to sound like a lot of money, but the more I live, the more I realize that it's not going to go as far as it use to.

Financial experts are now saying that the average American will need at least $1 million dollars to retire comfortably and that is living on 3 to 4% of the $1 million over a 20-30 year period.

Now, first let me say that I'm sure a lot of assumptions have been figured into that. For instance, your house would have to be paid for and having debt would be a "no-no" and of course, no travel and investing in your grandchildren or contributions to worthy
