Senator Kerry Introduces 3 Great Bills:
As reported last week, Senator Kerry has introduced the “Minority Entrepreneurship and Innovation Pilot Program” which will fund HBCU’s up to $1 million each for two years to establish entrepreneur development programs. There will be 24 awards granted. This bill number is S.2586 and we will track the progress on this through the Senate. We want all 100 Senators to cosponsor this bill.
Secondly, S.2595 improves the SBA 504 loan program. One aspect is increasing the lending limits for businesses that are owned by veterans, minorities and women.
Finally, S.2594 improves the SBA 7a loan program. One key point is that it will establish an Office of Minority Small Business Development in the SBA with an annual budget and requirements to monitor the outcome of SBA’s programs and ensure the SBA’s state offices have money to market to minorities.
We encourage all of you to support these three bills.
