iZania User Survey 2010: Survey confirms economic strength of our community
The Annual iZania User Survey was recently sent to 3500 members of our community. Please bear in mind that this survey is not scientific. It reflects the choices of the users who participated. When combined with our analysis of traffic and other indicators, we believe the results reflect a strong demographic base, and activity trends which represent the key indicators for economic growth.
Our community is older, better educated, and has a higher income than the general population of African Americans. Fifty percent (50%) of our respondents are self- employed. They have a high level of interest in business & entrepreneurship, and wealth creation.
Seventy four percent (74%) of our respondents are actively engaged in online financial transactions. A high percentage (63.8%) expressed a preference to purchase goods and services from Black-owned businesses. Thirty three percent (33%) use the iZania Black-owned Business Directory to locate businesses.
These key indicators are strong economic markers that have significance to the entrepreneurs, professionals, and consumers in our community who have an interest in Black economic empowerment. It has become increasingly clear that "self-help economics" is a vital element in improving outcomes for the Virtual Black Community. Our survey indicates that those with the means to make a difference are present in our community. Our goal is to mobilize this presence into a positive force for change.
