In terms of my own experience, the credit bureaus generally contact the credit card company regarding any dispute. It can take up to 30 days to receive an answer. If they rule in your favor, they correct the incorrect information listed. In terms of improving your credit score, there are many ways to improve. Heard the expression :Been there, done that? Well...we all need to learn to be smart about the Benjamins! We all could use room for improvement in this area. 1st, we should set daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly financial goals. 2nd, we should determine our cash flow. 3rd, we should create a spending plan. 4th, we should establish an emergency fund, 5th, we should cut back on spending, 6th, we should be more responsible with credit, and 7th, we must learn to save some money for investment purposes, and/or retirement. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the information. I hope to improve my score greatly but like you said we need to take certain steps to make sure we don't fall back in that trap again. When they find a descrepency and correct it do they report it to the other bureaus or is it our responsibility to do that?

They generally report it to all three. However, I would follow up myself. Remember the old adage:"IF YOU WANT SOMETHING DONE RIGHT YOU HAVE TO DO IT YOURSELF." Best of luck!

Samuel,
I neglected to mention a good book my mother bought me that I am reading on the subject of credit. It is written by a Black woman named Lynnette Khalfani.
It is entitled ZERO DEBT, THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO FINANCIAL FREEDOM. It is an excellent resource guide, and will answer many of your concerns. Visit Lynnette's web site for further information at www.themoneycoach.net.
ALL THE BEST!

Samuel,

You must dispute your items with all 3 bureaus. They are all independently owned and operated. You should send all information certified with return receipt. But make sure anything you're trying to get removed doesn't reduce your credit score! Your credit score is more important that having a "clean" credit report.

My company also offers a program where you can boost your score in as little as 30 -45 days. We call it the Points Accelerator Program. I recommend this to my clients who are wanting to increase their scores rapidly for a home, auto, or boat loan (and etc).

We also offer a conventional BeyondCredit Building Program which deals with the bureaus, collection agencies, and creditors on our clients behalf.

Thanks and God Bless,
