Default Re: What Black Businesses Do You Patronize?

Hotep
I wanted to reply to this important question, I personally made a vow 15 years ago to buy all that I can from black businesses and little as possible from others. I make clothes and other accessories that my family needs, or buy products like shea butter, handmade soap, material, shoes, gas, and everything else we use except food, because we don't have a black grocer in my town. I do plant a garden every year to help keep me out of their stores or support latino or oriental grocery stores as well. I just feel like they have far too much from the blood and sweat of our ancestors and I refuse to continue to support my own oppression. We have plans to build a home with solar power, waterwell and woodstoves to gain independence from their "bills slavery" they have us living in now. If we redirect our dollars to support black businesses we can make a difference for our communinty. Thanks, Izania for all you do, and Many blessings to you all

It is good to hear that you are making a commitment to "Buy Black" on a weekly basis. I imagine if all Black people made such a commitment, the state of Black Business would improve dramatically.

My challenge to you would be for you to encourage your friends to increase their "AQ." Encourage them to patronize Black businesses at least twice a week. I'm of the opinion that as more and more people increase their AQ, then more and more black people benefit.

Keep up the good work.

I am glad this post is coming alive again! This is important to really think about how we spend our dollars and share where we have great experiences.

I had a meeting and bought a healthy drink at Jack's Java in Chicago at 9500 South Western Avenue in Evergreen Plaza mall. www.jacksjava.com check out their website for a list of events.

This is a great place to have meetings or gathering or just stop buy for coffee and pastry and other tasty treats! They also have computers and internet access for patrons.

Let's keep posting!
Have a great day!

A company that was patronized by myself recently was Amariah Naturals, which offers skin and body care products. The Customer service was wonderful and the products are refreshing. Amariah Naturals are list in our online DB.

Today, I signed up as a member at CreativeSoul.com -- one of our member businesses, an eCard site.

Let's help them displace Blue Mountain and Hallmark cards online.

You go girl!

Today I patronized Kibibi's Art Gallery to purchase beautiful handmade jewelry designed by a sistah out of Chicago. Kibibi's is a new art gallery and retail store located in the King Lincoln District of Columbus. Omar Shaheed, a nationally acclaimed sculptor and his wife Deborah own and run the shop on Long St. at the Lincoln Theatre. I make a point to purchase goods and services from people who look like me at every opportunity.
