Are you an "Elite" Black Man?

In an artcle at MyBrotha.com, Reaching Out to Your Brother, the writer offered this description of an "Elite" brother.

We reserve the term, "elite" to describe only those men who know and understand the true meaning of being a man, not those of domineering, egotistical or pretentious character. We feel obligated to use the word "elite", simply because many Black men do not fall into this category. Those considered to be the best of the best, are those who have excelled in many facets of their lives. These men generate positive influence in the lives of young men and women; remain diligent in their personal endeavors and career-related goals; seek to grow, understand and respect their connections with the women in their lives; and through religion and spirituality, learn to walk by Faith and not by sight.

How do you measure up? What do you think about this description? Is this one of those "lightening bolt" terms that set folks off, and they miss the point? Is the writer indulging in polarizing brothers with this description?

As a woman that is active in her community, I often look for the men to step up! I understand you have to work, but are all the brothers working?

Our sons and young brothers are hanging on the street and have had enough "talk" from females. Where are the ELITE MEN at?

I like the concept of "Elite" Men! It is okay to set men apart that are striving to make a difference in his life and the life of those around him.
