A segment that truly reflects the rationale for alternative education measures to ensure a path of equality in education and a choice of education for our children. Success in education should be available to all citizens in America irrespective of race, gender, or socioeconomic status. Minister Malcolm X, experienced the bias in education. Unfortunatley, because of the climate during his time, he allowed himself to become discouraged when a teacher told him that his goal to become an Attorney was not a goal a Negro should aspire to achieve. We can't allow our children to believe a lie that they can't achieve anything anybody else can achieve.

Minister Malcolm X understood after being transformed in his spirit and mind that all people are capable of learning and achieving if provided with the opportunity and a fair playing field to achieve anything. I leave you now with his words rather than mine, articulated by Minister Malcolm X on March 24,1961:
"No man with education equal to your own will serve you. The only way you can continue to rule us is with superior knowledge, by continuing to withhold equal education from our people. America has not given us equal education, but she has given us enough to make us want more and to make us demand equality of opportunity."

Our current President, President Obama's children are in a private school, they were given a choice, an option. Will the Obama Administration provide this same equality of Choice to All American children?

Thank you for providing this much needed series on educating our children,
Tonia Renee Lee, M.P.A., University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA.
