As an advocate for Black Economic Empowerment, I wondered what would happen if thousands of African Americans began to refer Black-owned businesses to their neighbors and friends. I want to explore that idea, and invite you to join me in a self- help challenge to stimulate economic empowerment in the Black community.If we identify and refer 10,000 high quality Black- owned businesses, we will create an economic empowerment spike to strengthen the Black community.

Momentum builds slowly. People are starting to refer their favorite Black-owned businesses. This initiative is an experiment to test the adage that "Word of mouth is the best referral."
This is only true if those who respond actually tell us about the businesses. We have had 96 people view this article, but fewer who have actually referred a business.
Your help to kick-start this intiative with your referrals will keep the ball rolling.

By right of example and leadersahip the author of the above initiative should supply the very first business referral and not delegate his project and responsibility with the expectation that someone else other than him should get the ball rolling with word of mouth.
