This article implies a solid truth concerning black youths. I myself am a 24 year old and I read quite a bit. But I wasn\'t a reader at all until I starting heavily reading the Bible. As I got into the flow of reading through reading the Bible so much I starting reading other books of interest, now I read books of varying subjects.

The author of this article, however, said something which I know is NOT true. \"There is nothing more exciting to a young sista than seeing a young brotha with a book in his hand. Not bling on his wrist, not rims on his car. A book.\" As a \"brotha\" who has spent much time in the library, I firmly disagree. Many those young \"sistas\" consume just as much perversion as young \"brothas\", and they are attracted to \"brothas\" who are like them. - Marlon

Words can not express how disappointed I am with BET and this video. As if Hot Ghetto Mess was not bad enough! Well while there is still time to show it to the masses, I have linked to a clip of it and added make take on it on my blog: http://blackparenting.blogspot.com/2007/07/have-you-seen-this-read-book-video.html

I\\\'m About to reach out to as many Black Parents as I can, because we have to do something about this. - lhenry

\"It needs to start with reading a book.\" It needs to start with showing some love. - customer77
