Although the company has been in existence for 5 years,  Makena brings a wealth of experience of coordinating African centered workshops, educational events, and personal gatherings to embrace the African American culture. 

 Her professional resume includes such events as working as a Registration Manager with African American Women On Tour, coordinator of “Awareness of Blackness Night (A look at the beauty of Black Music), served on the marketing committee for Ira Aldridge Repertory Players for the debut of  “Harlem, Harlem” an African American play, marketing for African Liberation Day Celebration and the Director of Marketing for the first Earth Mama Healing Gathering.  In 2004, she was the event planner for “Healing Therapies for Success” facilitated by well-known healer Dr. Al-Najjar.   

In the last three years her career has expanded to managing a well-known poet in San Diego, she is currently producing “Conscious Comedy Explosion” a production that is co-produced with her husband to share the positive and conscience side of comedy.  She also plans trips to beautiful spa locations with her inventive idea called Spa Tours. 

Most recently, she and her husband launched their online travel agency www.firstworldtravel.net As a young entrepreneur, Makena knows the value of giving back to the community.  She is the marketing coordinator for the Mooney Twins, the Sons of Paul Mooney.  The Mooney Twins who are Daryl and Duane Mooney are the Founders of Black Millionaires in Motion leadership group and the facilitators of the Option Trading Wealth Seminar in San Diego.  The goal is help educate African Americans on Financial Opportunities. 

Besides her passion of event planning, she also likes coordinating activities for African American girls.  She co-founded the Butterfly Images Rites of Passage Program.  She has done a workshop for San Diego State University African Student Union High School conference designed to connect young African-American girls with their inner beauty and intelligence.
