Men of African Descent Enterprised INC. (M.A.D.E.).
M.A.D.E. was created to combat the disparities that Black Men in America face on a daily basis with regards to education, employment, health (mental/physical), incarceration etc. With the overwhelming statistics and media coverage that depicts black males as being not only an endangered species but barbaric perpetrators we feel that it is time for organizations to deal specifically with the “Black Male Epidemic”. Our goal is not to raise up and war against other races, our goal is not to blame others for our lack, our goal is to assist men of color youth and adults to become empowered for leadership and self sufficiency. We are young African American males who have made the decision to not sit idly by and watch our demise. We don’t want to play the blame game. The issues that black men face are catastrophic. Seemingly not enough people seem to care enough to execute action. When I say action I simply mean empowering. “In order for people to change they must first have access to the tools to change”, these tools are knowledge. Knowing where to go for help and assistance, knowing what would happen if you decide not to change, knowing who you are and your capabilities We are who we are because of our experiences. If you have more positive experiences you will have a more positive state of mind Our assessment and interview process is very stringent for participators; the program puts the burdens on the individuals to actively participate. Any individual not meeting requirements will not be allowed to continue we don’t want to waste any ones time. Our Guiding values are: All people regardless of race and social economic conditions should have the opportunity to take charge of their lives. That all people should be empowered and enabled to make critical decisions for their futures that will enable prosperity We seek human diversity in our activities and events. We will aggressively and unapologetically seek to recruit and aid those individuals in need of our services. We will exist to positively effect men of African descent and Latino descent , physically, spiritually, and mentally in a constructive manner. We will not focus on individuals past mistakes or indiscretions. Instead we will embrace the individual and help to provide resources that will assist them in not continuing to make the same mistakes
We believe that it is way past time that black men should stand strong in unity to redefine who we are and learn how to make plans to direct our own destiny. Now based upon all of the well known issues it’s hard to believe that there is not a nation wide organization specifically addressing the “Black Male Epidemic”. Black men are not all perpetrators; we are not all ignorant were not all running out on our families. Lifes hardships overwhelmingly affect us. We just want the opportunity to live a good quality of life. In our sessions we plan to provide information that addresses the past, present and future outlooks of the black male. We will also address financial management, job training, higher education, community responsibility, health related issues as well as provide career assessments, group facilitations, social networking, GED programs. We want to address the wholistic concerns of our participants.
Thought provoking questions are Why is it so hard for us to unite as a people? If we are to Unite, how and where and when? What happened to the leaders of the civil rights era, and what are they doing to unite the nation of African Americans, better yet is it for them..maybe they have done their job and now it's time for them to release the mantle? Why is it hard for a younger generation to get motivated and involved?
Me personally I refuse to give up. We will be proactive in spreading the awareness of a "should be movement" through various medias and events to improve our situation. Phil Bridges 404- 553-3003 |
