Think Strategy -- George the Monkey

ImageMinding my business...reading a book (PR 2.0). The air thickened and I felt a growing lump in my throat. Let me back up. Returning to Baltimore, I’m seated next to an energetic five year old a few miles in the air. He was all over the place - grandmother had little control. Bless her heart! Conversation initiated...Cayden (nice name) asks my name. He didn’t like it. Suggested my name should be George...George the Monkey.

Think Strategy -- Rhythm All Jacked Up

ImageSome steps take you to what you want, others lead you astray ... moving towards what you think you want.  Wrong move...now what?  Dancing towards personal success in your professional space is the desire.  A good tune always helps.  I can’t think of a time since 2001, more critical and more challenging, for the average dancer – rather employee or entrepreneur than now.

Jeremiah Wright Speaks Out!

ImageJeremiah Wright responds to his critics in an interview on Bill Moyers Journal. This PBS Program demonstrated a level of journalism and background that has been absent in the rush to derail the candidacy of Barack Obama. the network news shows have not taken a single step to provide any balance to the blatant distortion of the work that this pastor has done over the 40 plus years of his ministry.

Think Strategy -- You Could Be Next

ImageYou could be next.  Not to loose your home; but to loose your job.  What would happen if your employer, Department Head, or VP weren’t telling the complete truth?  Understating the health of the organization or the team.  Specifics aren’t the issue - there are far too many variables.  The point of this piece is that you must always ensure that you are in a position to negotiate, run, or rebound should the situation appear unfavorable.

"Z" is for Zimbabwe: Turmoil & Silence as a Country Potentially Unravels

ImageMuch of Black America stopped discussing Zimbabwe after its liberation in 1980; at least, we stopped discussing it for a while. After years of regular coverage of the liberation war, details regarding Zimbabwe became harder to obtain as attention shifted to struggles in Mozambique, Namibia, Angola and South Africa. Not to be misunderstood, it was not that facts were being withheld for us here in Black America, so much as we paid less attention to developments, and did not dig for information.

Think Strategy -- Life Cycle

ImageIn all of our consumption and most of the information secured, products we use, places we frequent, there applies the term life cycle.  In business the term covers roughly seven stages of an organization's possible position.  In technology it covers seven minutes.  In business you grab an idea, run with it, enjoy the success, and eventually exit the scene.  Dissolve, or better still...sell.  Move on.

Race is Still X Factor for Obama

ImageAs he heads into Pennsylvania, there’s good news and bad news for Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama in the recent exit polls of white voters in Democratic primaries. The good news is that by a lopsided majority of six to one whites said that race was not a factor in considering whether to back Obama or not. That pretty much conforms to virtually every poll that’s been taken since Obama tossed his hat in the presidential ring a year ago. His red state Democratic primary and caucus wins and the handful of endorsements he’s gotten from the red state Democratic senators and governors seem to bolster the poll findings as well as his camp’s contention that the majority of whites have bought his race-neutral change and unity pitch.

Post racial conflict: America to enter Heaven without confessing her sins

ImagePrior to the current mortgage crisis, the median wealth of a White family was $88,000.00, the median wealth of a Black family was $5,900.00.  The forthcoming evidence proving the Federal Governments’ role in producing this startling statistic will be overshadowed by the controversy over the truthful statements of Rev. Jeremiah Wright and subsequent division in the Black community over color blindness and culpability.  It appears the color blind faction will prevail as their membership explodes with the congregants from the churches of Obama, Davis, Booker, Patrick and other Ivy-league preachers.  Members are being baptized in droves.  Never in the history of the Black community have we seen so many answer the call to hope, with all supplicants expressing faithfulness and devotion to the color blind ideology.
