Battle of the Sexes

Certain conflicts are as common as the air we breathe.  The Battle of the Sexes is one of them.  To argue its’ origins, one would have to study examples such as the Ethiopian story of seduction of the Queen of Sheba by King Solomon.  Or look at the historic Sept 20, 1973 match when Billie Jean King defeated Booby Riggs.  A victory that spawned a movement for sure.  Did that victory give rise to this interoffice conflict?  Another argument.

Be clear: both sexes need to get out of the office and give back.  A point we need not argue.  Our youth are in crisis.  I’ve heard the voice of fear as cars slowly creep the block to the stories of crumbling blocks controlled by creeps more often than you might imagine.  Youth near and far need to hear and interact with your voice.  I’m not disillusioned; there are some that are just not interested.  There are so many that are.  Just like sales...go through the no’s until you find a yes!

According to Carley Thimmesch , “Hanging out with a kid… a few times a month… for a few hours each time… over the course of a year… helps them stay in school, stay away from drugs and alcohol, and have better relations with their peers and elders.” Technically, The Battle of the Sexes is equal; we all have the tools to remain efficient away from the office.  Do yourself a favor and get involved with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central Maryland or one of so many other wonderful groups in your area.

A few hours will make a major difference.  I’m sure you agree that giving back is a great Battle of the Sexes.  It’s Monday – enlist – let’s keep their life moving!
