06 Dec Tiger's Story Isn't a Racial Issue

The other day I was watching a discussion on TV about Tiger Woods and his alleged infidelity.  One of the commentators said the media coverage of this incident could cause a racial divide? My question is, why?

Tiger has never truly embraced his African-American heritage.  As a matter of fact, when he was on Oprah, he said he didn't like being identified as "black" and came up with his own name:  Cablinasian---as in Caucasian-black-Indian-Asian.

Tiger has also been criticized for not doing anything to help up and coming black golfers make the PGA Tour.  It's called lending a helping hand--or in this case--lending a helping golf club.

So now we have this scandal involving Tiger, his wife and some mistresses.  His wife isn't black---nor are any of the women he allegedly had affairs with, so why should the black community be up in arms over how Tiger is being treated by the media?

Think about this:  If Tiger had been married to a black woman, would this story generate the same kind of media coverage?
